This February, (hopefully every day!), I will be posting a short devotional. Each one will have one of God’s Biblical names or one of His attributes that describes His character, and one promise of who we are in Christ as Christians saved by grace. It is important to remind ourselves of these promises. They may seem simple but they affect what we believe about ourselves and even if we think that we have the victory to overcome sin in our lives. As girls, believing what we feel can be very easy and the devil loves to take advantage of us this way by getting us to believe lies about ourselves. But God’s word is absolute truth and continues to be truth no matter how we feel at the moment. Jesus has won the victory for us even if we don’t feel like we can overcome our sin, etc… I would encourage you to study who God says that you are in the Bible and when you are tempted to think otherwise, tell yourself the truth – even if you don’t feel like it. It stays the truth no matter how we feel, and that is wonderful! Embrace God’s promises and learn to walk by faith and not by sight!
Day #1
God is: Jehovah-M’Kadesh – “The God who Sanctifies”
Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you. Leviticus 20:7-8
God is working the work of sanctification in our lives by making us more and more like Jesus Christ.
I am: God’s child
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
God is my heavenly Father and because of what Jesus did on the cross by redeeming me, I can go straight to God in prayer. He cares about each one of His children more greatly than it is even possible for us to imagine and He desires us to have a close relationship with Him.
