What does Easter mean to you?  To many it means bunnies, Easter egg hunts, and pretty spring dresses.   There is nothing wrong with those but there’s something they can never compare to.  To some Easter means a victorious Savior, triumphing over the grave.  The power to walk a new life, free from the shackles of sin.  Being able to face tomorrow because Jesus lives.  If you have never experienced a victorious Easter like this, there is no better time than now.

“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.  …as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  For he that is dead is freed from sin.  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Romans 5:21 & 6:4-11

His resurrection means that we can live in victory.  Jesus, sinless, fully man and fully God, took our place and bore our sin and punishment on the cross and died in our place.  Then He rose the third day, like the old testament scriptures said He would, triumphant, so that we also may walk in newness of life.  His resurrection was just as important for us as His death.  He died so that we can be forgiven and because He lives, we can live also, through Him.  He has loved us with and everlasting love.  “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15:13

Will you cease to fight for victory and fight from victory?  Jesus has already won it all!  If you are Christ’s then your old sinful nature was already crucified and buried.  That can be really hard to understand because it goes against our human nature – but that’s why the Romans verse above says, reckon yourself to be dead to sin.  Reckon, sum it up in your mind to be so.  Walk by faith!  Let’s stand on that perfect ground of victory rejoice in our Savior.  Like Paul said, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” Philippians 3:10.
